In January 2027 I will be running the Walt Disney World half marathon. Never in my wildest dreams (or nightmares) did I envision myself running 13.1 miles by choice. Though I always remained active throughout my life, I never was a long distance runner. Three years ago, I Unexpectedly lost my younger sister. Paralyzed with grief, I knew I needed an outlet to allow myself to continue functioning as a CRNA, daughter, wife and most importantly as a mother. I made the active choice to channel my grief, anger and energy to focus on completing a 10k at the Disney Wine and Dine Marathon week. Running became the therapeutic outlet I needed and continue to use to this day.
I am so proud and honored to be raising money for the organization Girls on the Run in Central Florida. This organization helps Provide young girls with the resources to remain active, increase their physical activity, and build confidence. Over the past few years running has strengthen my physical and mental health, and I believe that every young girl deserves the opportunity to reap the benefits of physical activity, teamwork and a sense of belonging. Please donate to this amazing cause.
